President Marcos welcomed him by stating, “I look forward to even stronger relationships between our two countries and to strengthen what is already a very strong union between our two countries.” The two countries have maintained diplomatic ties since August 20, 1957, and approximately 7,500 Filipinos reside in Cambodia.
Ukrainian Ambassador Fediv emphasized the importance of bilateral relations, particularly in endeavors promoting peace and mutual respect. President Marcos indicated his willingness to support Ukraine, saying, “We hope to continue – we will always support you in your efforts for peace.” The Philippines established formal diplomatic relations with Ukraine on April 7, 1992, with about 24 Filipinos currently living there.
