The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has publicly denounced the recent airstrikes conducted by the United States and the United Kingdom in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a. These strikes have resulted in numerous casualties, including women and children. The ministry’s spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, emphasized that such acts violate the UN Charter and international laws that safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Baghaei stressed the responsibility of the United Nations and the UN Security Council to address violations that jeopardize international peace and security. He characterized the US-British aggression against Yemen as part of a broader agenda supporting the genocide of Palestinians and suppressing their legitimate rights.
He remarked that ongoing instability in West Asia stems from the mass killings and occupation occurring in Palestinian territories, actions that are supported by the US, UK, and other Western nations and pose severe threats to both regional and global security. Furthermore, he urged global and Islamic entities to fulfill their moral obligations to oppose acts like genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine, particularly during Ramadan.
The airstrikes took place on Saturday night, affecting multiple Yemeni provinces including Sa’ada, al-Bayda, and Dhamar. According to Yemen’s health ministry, these attacks resulted in the deaths of at least 31 individuals and injuries to 101 others. The strikes followed threats from Yemeni Armed Forces to retaliate against Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea due to the blockade on Gaza.
