Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei characterized the announcement as a “necessary and important step” towards achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus. He expressed confidence that dialogue will help both nations resolve remaining issues and finalize the agreement promptly.
On Thursday, Armenia and Azerbaijan disclosed that they had agreed upon the text of the peace deal, with Armenia consenting to relinquish its claims over Karabakh. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced the completion of negotiations, stating, “Armenia has accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on the two previously unresolved articles of the peace treaty.” Armenia’s foreign ministry corroborated this assertion, indicating that negotiations had concluded and the agreement was ready for signing.
