Iran’s foreign ministry summoned UK, France, and Germany ambassadors in response to their collaboration with the US at the UN Security Council regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Iran criticized the meeting as an inappropriate intrusion into its cooperation with the IAEA, asserting its commitment to peaceful nuclear development.
The Iranian foreign ministry recently summoned the ambassadors of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany in a reaction to their coordinated efforts with the United States at the United Nations Security Council concerning Iran’s nuclear program. This response was triggered by their perceived collusion against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, as reported by News.Az citing Mehr news agency.
On Thursday, the heads of the E3 missions were received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran, where they faced complaints regarding their actions. Iran accused these European nations, along with the US, of misusing Security Council protocols to convene a private meeting focused on Iran’s nuclear activities. Consequently, they were urged to communicate Iran’s protest to their respective governments.
A representative from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hassaninejad Pirkouhi, emphasized the country’s strong dissent against the UNSC meeting, labeling it as an “unwarranted interference” in Iran’s collaboration efforts with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The ambassadors were informed of Iran’s discontent during their discussions.
The summoning of the E3 ambassadors highlights Iran’s firm stance against perceived external interference in its nuclear program. By voicing objections to the UNSC’s actions in a closed meeting, Iran reinforces its commitment to its peaceful nuclear endeavors while demanding respect and recognition of its cooperation with the IAEA. This incident illustrates the heightened tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities and international diplomatic relations.
