Ayatollah Khamenei condemns Trump’s call for negotiations with Iran, viewing it as a deceptive tactic. He argues that further talks would exacerbate sanctions and asserts Iran’s commitment to not pursue nuclear weapons. The Leader emphasizes Iran’s ability to withstand pressure, noting the ineffectiveness of sanctions, and expresses confidence in the resilience of the Resistance Front despite recent losses of prominent leaders.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s invitation for dialogue with Iran, labeling it a “deception” intended to mislead global public opinion about Iran’s willingness for diplomacy. Khamenei asserted that previous negotiations with Trump had been abruptly halted, questioning the purpose of any further discussions given Trump’s track record of not honoring agreements.
He emphasized that the Trump administration shows no intent to alleviate sanctions and that any negotiations would likely intensify these pressures. Khamenei stated, “If the purpose of negotiations is to lift the sanctions, negotiating with this US administration will not remove the sanctions; it will make the sanctions even tighter and increase the pressure.”
Addressing allegations regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Khamenei reiterated that Iran has no desire to develop nuclear weapons, noting that had it chosen to do so, it could have already achieved this goal. He asserted, “The fact that we do not have nuclear weapons and are not pursuing them is because we ourselves do not want them for specific reasons.”
Responding to U.S. military threats, Khamenei warned of Iran’s readiness to retaliate, specifying that any confrontation would incur greater costs to the United States. He asserted, “Iran has the capability to retaliate, and it will certainly deliver a counterstrike if necessary.”
Khamenei remarked on the dwindling effectiveness of U.S. sanctions against Iran, which he claims are losing their impact over time. He stated that Iran has developed strategies to neutralize these sanctions, although he acknowledged that many of Iran’s economic difficulties stem from internal issues rather than external pressures.
Furthermore, Khamenei honored the sacrifices of resistance leaders from Lebanon, Palestine, and Iran, declaring that their martyrdom does not signify the decline of the Resistance Front. He noted, “Today, despite their absence, we are stronger in some areas compared to last year on this very day,” emphasizing that as long as vision and determination remain, setbacks will not halt progress.
In summary, Ayatollah Khamenei denounces President Trump’s appeal for negotiations, asserting it serves merely as a ruse. He underscores Iran’s ability to counter U.S. sanctions and affirms that military threats from the United States are counterproductive. The Leader expresses confidence in Iran’s strength and resilience, even in the face of the loss of significant resistance figures, emphasizing a continued commitment to national ideals.
