The Supreme Judicial Council hosted the fourth International Day of Women Judges in Geneva, led by Dr. Hessa Al Sulaiti. The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) recently organized the fourth International Day of Women Judges celebration in Geneva, in partnership with the Permanent Delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Human Rights Council. This event coincided with the 58th session of the Human Rights Council.
Dr. Hessa Al Sulaiti, Senior Judge at the Court of Appeal, led the SJC delegation, which included other prominent figures such as Fatima Al Mal and Judge Aisha Al Emadi, along with various directors and heads of specialized administrative units of the Council.
Several national and international organizations participated, including the National Human Rights Committee, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the International Association of Women Judges based in Washington, D.C.
The observance of the International Day of Women Judges was established during the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, following a proposal from the State of Qatar. This initiative emphasizes Qatar’s commitment to advancing gender equality in the judiciary, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030.
