Chris Ashe’s Transition from UAE to Singapore: A New Chapter at Partior

Chris Ashe, former CTO of Mox Bank, has moved from Abu Dhabi to Singapore as CTO of Partior. His significant previous roles and experience in agile methodologies will be crucial in addressing the challenges at Partior following recent upheaval within the company.

Chris Ashe, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Mox Bank in Hong Kong, has transitioned from the United Arab Emirates to Singapore. Initially relocating to Abu Dhabi less than two years ago, Ashe has now taken a position as CTO at Partior, a fintech specializing in blockchain payments infrastructure. His career included roles at digital asset custody company Tungsten and lending solution provider CredibleX while in Abu Dhabi.

During his two and a half years at Mox, Ashe served as CTO and later as interim Chief Information Officer, managing over 150 technology professionals. He introduced the ‘Spotify Model’ of agile methodology, known for fostering a swift and independent working environment. This approach may be advantageous at Partior, which has faced significant challenges in the past year.

Partior underwent a $60 million funding round and appointed Humphrey Valenbrender as its new CEO. Despite this, the company downsized by laying off 30 employees and witnessed resignations due to allegations of a detrimental workplace culture. Glassdoor reviews indicate a negative atmosphere, labeling the environment a “zombie town” with very low morale and criticisms regarding the absence of a coherent tech strategy, a situation Ashe is expected to improve.

Chris Ashe’s move to Singapore to lead Partior as its CTO highlights the ongoing transitions within the fintech sector. His experience in managing technology teams and implementing agile practices is expected to be crucial in resolving the cultural and strategic challenges currently faced by Partior. This reflects broader trends as professionals navigate opportunities across global financial hubs while addressing varying workplace environments.
