Kuwait’s CAIT and CITRA have partnered with Microsoft to accelerate digital transformation and AI advancements in the nation, aiming to make Kuwait a regional AI hub in alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035. Kuwait’s Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) and the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) have entered into a strategic partnership with Microsoft Corporation to expedite the nation’s digital transformation and enhance artificial intelligence (AI) implementations in the country.
This agreement aims to position Kuwait as a regional AI hub aligned with the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035, as emphasized by Minister of State for Communications Affairs, Omar Saud Abdul-Aziz Al-Omar, during a press conference following the signing.
The minister highlighted that this initiative reflects the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, under the guidance of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
This partnership is a pivotal step in advancing AI applications in Kuwait to foster economic diversification and to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, as stated by Al-Omar. Additionally, it will focus on the training of the national workforce, enhancing their IT skills to prepare them for leadership roles.
The strategic plan includes the establishment of an AI data center, an integrated AI system, and centers to promote the digital economy, state services, and cloud auditing excellence. The government will also provide civil servants with access to Microsoft 365 Copilot, making Kuwait one of the first nations in the region to leverage such technology to enhance productivity and state services.
Al-Omar further explained that the development of cloud auditing centers and improved digital infrastructure are essential for attracting global investors and fostering an innovative environment in Kuwait.
Samer Abu-Ltaif, Microsoft’s corporate vice president for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMA), stated that this partnership is geared toward enhancing Kuwait’s digital infrastructure, thereby contributing to its economic prosperity and sustainability. Microsoft is dedicated to improving Kuwait’s cloud capabilities and supporting state institutions in fostering innovation and investments.
Abu-Ltaif also mentioned that the cooperation will include launching the Cybersphere initiative to bolster cybersecurity within government sectors to protect against potential cyber threats.
