Yet, producers are taking precautions against another outbreak, largely due to the slow momentum of the government-approved vaccination program, which is hampered by costly monitoring and testing requirements. The South African Poultry Association has urged the government to subsidize vaccinations and provide compensation for farmers who suffered losses during the previous outbreak.
