Iraq’s Parliament will reconvene on March 8 to vote on key legislation, including amendments to investment and health laws, as well as proposals to cancel the visa exemption agreement with Cyprus. Evening sessions will be held during Ramadan to sustain legislative progress before the term’s end.

The Iraqi Parliament is scheduled to resume its sessions on Saturday, March 8, after a recess, as announced by the Parliament’s media office. This resumption includes evening sessions during Ramadan to facilitate legislative progress prior to the conclusion of the current parliamentary term, according to Mohamed Anouz, a member of the Legal Committee.

During the upcoming session, lawmakers will vote on the fourth amendment to the Industrial Investment Law applicable to the private and mixed sectors, alongside a proposal to reinstate the trial system proposed by the Ministry of Education. Additionally, a report regarding the protection of state property from the temporary parliamentary committee will be reviewed.

Several significant proposals are expected to be introduced for the first time, including a measure to annul the visa exemption agreement between Iraq and Cyprus for holders of diplomatic and service passports. Furthermore, other legislative items scheduled for discussion include a second amendment to the Mukhtar Law and the fourth amendment pertaining to medical and health professions.

The Iraqi Parliament is poised to address essential legislation upon its resumption, which includes key amendments to investment and health laws. New proposals, such as the cancellation of the visa exemption agreement with Cyprus, are significant items on the agenda. The intention to hold evening sessions during Ramadan indicates a commitment to maintain legislative momentum leading to the end of the term.
