On February 17, during the 8th Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat, Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, Md Touhid Hossain, articulated the nation’s aspiration for enhanced cooperation with Oman in the energy sector. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a steady energy supply from Oman to Bangladesh, fostering greater bilateral economic ties between the two countries.

The meeting between Adviser Hossain and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi highlighted the existing strong diplomatic relations, which are nearing their 50th anniversary. Both parties conveyed their satisfaction with the cordial ties and agreed to celebrate this significant milestone together, with Hossain extending an invitation to the Omani foreign minister to visit Bangladesh for the commemoration.

Adviser Hossain expressed gratitude to the Government of Oman for hosting a considerable number of Bangladeshi expatriates, whose contributions benefit both nations’ economies. He also underscored the need for Oman to consider recruiting Bangladeshi professionals, particularly in the fields of medicine, engineering, IT, nursing, and shipbuilding, to further strengthen the workforce in Oman.
