Sudan’s government has criticized the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its initiative to host a conference about Sudan during the upcoming African Union summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, labeling it as “an all-out aggression.” Sudan has lodged a formal complaint with the United Nations Security Council, accusing the UAE of supplying military equipment and advanced weaponry to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) via Chad.
Malik Agar, deputy chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, stated that the planned conference, scheduled for February 14 on the summit’s sidelines, undermines Sudan’s sovereignty and violates African Union principles. He emphasized that Abu Dhabi is attempting to impose its political narrative by insisting on the participation of key international figures, including the UN Secretary-General and the Ethiopian Prime Minister.
Agar condemned the timing of the proposed conference, viewing it as a strategy to manipulate regional politics and divert attention from Sudan’s interests. He expressed gratitude for Egypt’s disapproval of the UAE’s actions and denounced the UAE’s involvement as detrimental, accusing it of attempting to skew facts while continuing its aggressive agenda against Sudan.
The Sudanese government strongly opposed any meetings regarding its internal matters that exclude its presence, particularly if they are convened by non-African Union nations. Agar asserted that the UAE is seeking to improve its own image while continuing to supply arms to the RSF, thereby supporting terrorism in the region.
He affirmed Sudan’s resolve against foreign interference in its internal affairs and called for unity among peace-loving nations against such interventions. Agar acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the armed forces to restore security against the RSF and stressed the necessity of a political dialogue that respects the rights of victims and re-establishes state authority.
Furthermore, he urged the African Union to reconsider its stance on Sudan. Agar highlighted Sudan’s proposed roadmap for post-war recovery, which aims at initiating a comprehensive national dialogue, establishing a government of independent experts, and ensuring freedom of speech and political expression, while safeguarding national values.

The Sudanese leadership condemns this initiative as a breach of sovereignty and accuses the UAE of exacerbating regional tensions.
