Minister Mutati emphasized that this connection will position Zambia as a regional hub for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), enabling Burundi to transmit its information through Zambia to other southern and eastern African nations. Minister Mutati recognized the MoU as a highlight of the summit, which attracted over 500 attendees, including more than 20 Cabinet Ministers from 33 different countries. Burundian Minister of Communication, Technology and Information, Léocadie Ndacayisaba, expressed her optimism regarding the partnership, stating that this fibre optic connection would foster further collaboration between Zambia and Burundi.
