In the 800 meters sprint, Namibia’s Earl of Cardigan secured victory, closely followed by Botswana’s Desert Doops. Starlile from Namibia claimed third place. Meanwhile, Botswana’s Silver Sky triumphed in the 1600 meters for imported horses, with Namibia’s Woodland Ridge finishing in second, and King of Love from Botswana taking third. The 1400 meters race was dominated by local participants, with Botswana horses Secretary General, Call Me, and Mr. Liesbery finishing in the top three. The 1000 meters cross-breed race saw Namibia’s Sunny Side emerge victorious, with compatriots 704 and Mboma finishing in second and third, respectively. In another notable contest, Namibia’s Camarata finished third in the 1000 meters thoroughbred race, which was won by Botswana’s Prince, followed by Incahoots in second. The key thoroughbreds competed in the main race of 2400 meters, where Botswana’s Silver Sky again secured the first place, followed by Secretary General and Western Bypass in second and third places, respectively. Iritjiua Murangi, who led the Namibian delegation, expressed satisfaction with the performances of the Namibian horses, highlighting, “We managed to get first places, and that shows the class of our horses.” He emphasized the significance of the event, noting the excellent organization and turf condition that benefited the competitors. Murangi believes that such events will foster stronger relations between the neighboring countries. He also mentioned that the Botswana horses will be visiting Namibia for upcoming races.
