Brazil and Argentina have signed a deal with Bolivia’s YPFB to transport natural gas from the Vaca Muerta shale formation in Argentina. The agreement allows YPFB to utilize Bolivian infrastructure for this purpose, thereby supporting regional energy integration and addressing declining gas supplies from Bolivia. TotalEnergies has also obtained permits to export additional gas from Argentina to Brazil.
On November 22, Grupo Matrix Energia from Brazil and TotalEnergies of Argentina formalized their initial agreement with Bolivia’s state-owned energy firm, YPFB, to transport natural gas derived from Argentina’s Vaca Muerta shale formation. This arrangement enables YPFB to utilize Bolivian infrastructure to facilitate the transfer of Argentine gas to Brazil, thereby reinforcing the integration of regional energy markets.
