North Korea Says US Entry Ban Omission is Not a Matter of Interest

North Korea has declared that its omission from the US travel ban list is of no interest. The KCNA reported this after President Trump’s administration announced the bans. Experts speculate that this may represent a softer approach from the US toward renewed talks. However, North Korea states it is not concerned with US entry policies.

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korea has downplayed the significance of being excluded from the United States’ travel ban list, stating that it is of no concern to them. This statement follows the recent travel ban announced by the Trump administration, which affects 12 countries, namely: Afghanistan, Myanmar, Haiti, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, all citing threats related to “foreign terrorists.”

Interestingly, earlier this year, both North Korea and Russia were deliberated upon when the travel ban was being formulated, yet neither made the final cut. KCNA mentioned a commentary from an international affairs analyst who speculated that the omission might imply a “carrot” tactic by the US, possibly aimed towards rekindling dialogue with North Korea.

The North Korean state media emphasized that the rationale behind their exclusion—whether it is technical or political—remains for the US to clarify. However, they confidently stated, “one obvious fact is that we are not interested in the least in the matter of entry into the US.” The KCNA report indicated that even lacking a deliberate intention to exclude them from the travel ban, North Korea sees no reason to feel pleased about this situation.

Furthermore, the KCNA stressed that North Korea will perceive US actions without considering optimistic external interpretations or observations. As reiterated by the analyst, the North will engage with the US based on the actual circumstances rather than subjective viewpoints, indicating a firm stance in this ongoing diplomatic theatre.

North Korea’s response to being excluded from the US travel ban underscores its disinterest in US affairs. Following the travel ban announcement affecting 12 countries, North Korea views the omission as unimportant. Despite speculations of a softer US stance, North Korea remains firm and basing its actions on reality rather than conjecture or hope from external observers.
