During a meeting with U.S. Ambassador Peter Vrooman, Louveira highlighted the U.S. as a key partner in the Mozambican health system, emphasizing the vital role of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Louveira expressed concern over the effects of USAID’s reduction and the cancellation of U.S. funding for crucial health programs, chiefly concerning HIV/AIDS.
