On March 21, 2025, the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) of Kenya conducted a courtesy visit to His Excellency President Wavel Ramkalawan at the State House in Victoria, Seychelles. This visit, part of a regional study tour titled ‘Enhancing Regional Security through Strengthening Industrial Capacity and Defence Partnership,’ was led by Deputy Commandant Brigadier David Chesire.
Brigadier Chesire expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality received during the visit and acknowledged the strong relations between Kenya and Seychelles. He highlighted the support provided by various departments in Seychelles, which contributed to the success of the delegation’s stay.
President Ramkalawan addressed the delegation, imparting wisdom to the student officers regarding their duties. He stressed the significance of focus, loyalty, and patriotism, urging them to be steadfast in their commitments: “Remain true to your countries and your commitments.” He inspired the officers to serve diligently in fostering security and prosperity.
The visit also included attendance by senior officials from the Seychelles military, notably, Chief of Defence Forces Major General Michael Rosette, alongside other senior military personnel. The Kenyan delegation comprised Colonel Lois Wataka, the Kenya Defence Attaché, as well as faculty members and student officers from JCSC, who hailed from various African nations, including Kenya, Burundi, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.
The JCSC delegation’s visit to Seychelles underscored the importance of regional partnerships in enhancing security. The discussions between President Ramkalawan and the delegation reinforced the values of dedication and patriotism among military officers, fostering stronger ties between the nations involved.
