Vietnam attributes great importance to its longstanding friendship and cooperation with Mozambique, designating it as a priority partner within Africa. This commitment aims to enhance solidarity and mutual benefits, contributing to peace, cooperation, and global development. These sentiments were articulated by Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique, Trần Thị Thu Thìn, during her credential presentation in Maputo on March 19 to President Daniel Francisco Chapo.

In welcoming Ambassador Thìn, President Chapo commended her appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to fortify the bilateral relations. He acknowledged the fruitful development of the partnership over the last fifty years, exemplified by the successful Movitel venture, a collaboration between Viettel Group of Vietnam and Mozambique’s SPI company. Chapo expressed hopes for increased Vietnamese investments in Mozambique.

Ambassador Thìn reiterated her dedication to enhancing the cooperative friendship between the two countries, particularly in emerging sectors such as mining, telecommunications, information technology, and digital transformation. She encouraged the Mozambican government to bolster support for the local Vietnamese community, thereby deepening bilateral ties.

The ambassador extended warm regards and congratulations from Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and State President Luong Cuong to President Chapo on his recent election as Chairman of the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) and subsequent presidential inauguration. She further conveyed an invitation for President Chapo to visit Vietnam in the near future.

In conclusion, Vietnam esteems its relationship with Mozambique as a priority within Africa, seeking to expand cooperation across various sectors.
