INS Tushil, the newly commissioned guided missile stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, has successfully completed its first port visit to Dakar, Senegal. This visit serves to strengthen the bilateral relations between India and Senegal. Captain Peter Varghese, during a three-day stay, held discussions with Rear Admiral Abdou Sene, the Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Navy, focusing on enhancing naval cooperation and promoting maritime security initiatives.
As part of its engagement, the Indian Navy conducted a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), which featured a demonstration of the NISHAR – MITRA terminal. Moreover, a joint Yoga session was organized in collaboration with the Yoga Association of Senegal, promoting cultural ties and wellness. Approximately 150 visitors from both the Indian diaspora and the local community attended the ship, showcasing the Indian Navy’s expanding influence in the region.
Moreover, INS Tushil concluded its visit with a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) alongside the Senegalese naval vessel PHM Niani upon departure. This collaborative exercise underscores the commitment to regional security and signifies a meaningful advancement in interoperability between the navies of the two nations.
