The Zimbabwean government has dismissed Blessed Geza’s call for nationwide protests, labeling them delusional and reactionary. Information Minister Jenfan Muswere emphasized readiness to prevent any violent demonstrations and assured citizens of the government’s stability amidst factional discussions within the ruling party.
The Zimbabwean government has responded firmly to Blessed Geza’s call for a nationwide protest scheduled for March 31, which he has linked to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s alleged corruption. According to government officials, Geza’s statements amount to “delusional rumblings and reactionary grandstanding,” and they emphasized that law enforcement is prepared to prevent any violent acts during these protests.
Information Minister Jenfan Muswere stated that the nation remains resilient against any attempts at unrest. He urged citizens to disregard Geza’s provocative rhetoric, categorizing him as a divisionalist bent on causing unrest. Muswere emphasized, “no violent demonstration will ever see the light of day” in Zimbabwe.
Geza, a known fugitive and former member of the Zanu PF Central Committee, has positioned himself against Mnangagwa, claiming that the president has allowed rampant corruption to undermine the economy. Tensions within the ruling party appear to have deepened, with factions forming around different agendas regarding the upcoming elections in 2028.
Muswere reaffirmed that speculation regarding factional divisions would not hinder the leadership’s unity. He dismissed rumors surrounding the leadership’s stability, assuring citizens that “no iota of imagination will create disunity within the leadership.” Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has positioned himself as a constitutionalist, publicly stating his intention to adhere to term limits, despite the ongoing discussions surrounding his potential extended stay in power.
The Zimbabwean government has taken a firm stance against a proposed nationwide protest led by Blessed Geza, declaring it as reactionary and misleading. Law enforcement is on high alert to prevent any violent demonstrations. As speculation regarding party factions grows, the leadership asserts its unity and commitment to constitutional governance, underscoring President Mnangagwa’s declared adherence to term limits despite the factional debates.
