Qatar Participates in Arab League Meeting Against Israeli Aggression

Qatar participated in an Arab League emergency meeting in Cairo addressing Israeli aggression against Palestinians. Led by Ambassador HE Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari, the meeting aimed to draft a resolution condemning Israeli actions, calling for international accountability, and emphasizing the importance of a ceasefire in Gaza established through Qatari and Egyptian collaboration.

On Wednesday, the State of Qatar participated in an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council, convened at its Cairo headquarters. This meeting was initiated by the State of Palestine to address efforts aimed at compelling Israel to stop its violent actions against Palestinians and to adhere to international law and its resolutions.

Qatar’s delegation was led by HE Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari, Qatar’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League. In remarks to Qatar News Agency, Ambassador Al Ansari condemned the recent Israeli actions against Palestinian civilians, which reportedly occurred during the holy month of Ramadan, characterizing them as part of a broader pattern of genocide and crimes against humanity.

The session sought to draft a resolution that reflects the principles established in the Cairo Declaration from the Extraordinary Arab Summit held earlier in March. The draft resolution condemned Israeli acts against Palestinians and called upon the international community to fulfil its obligations under prior resolutions, stressing that the responsibility extends beyond Arab nations to all countries and regional organizations.

Furthermore, the draft resolution highlighted the significance of maintaining the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, achieved through collaborative efforts between Qatar and Egypt, promoting a need for ongoing support and implementation from relevant parties and the Arab Islamic Committee specifically formed for this purpose.

The extraordinary session of the Council was called upon following Israel’s renewed hostilities against Palestinians, resulting in over 400 casualties and numerous injuries, amidst restrictions on electricity and humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip.

In conclusion, Qatar’s active participation in the Arab League’s extraordinary session underscores its commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinians. The session aimed to develop a resolution condemning Israeli aggression, reinforcing the international community’s responsibilities, and emphasizing the importance of maintaining a significant ceasefire. Through unified Arab efforts, the call for accountability and humanitarian support highlights the urgency of addressing this ongoing conflict.
