El Salvador’s Bukele Comments on Trump’s Call to Impeach Judge

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele commented on Donald Trump’s call to impeach a judge, labeling it a ‘judicial coup.’ Trump criticized Judge James E. Boasberg for blocking deportations under the Alien Enemies Act, insisting that dangerous criminals should be removed from the U.S. Despite a temporary block by the judge, deportations proceeded, including members of criminal organizations.

In response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for the impeachment of a judge, President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador remarked on X that the United States is experiencing a “judicial coup.” Elon Musk expressed his agreement with Bukele by sharing the tweet and exclaiming, “1000%.”

Trump, who referred to Judge James E. Boasberg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, criticized the judge as a “Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator,” emphasizing that he was nominated by former President Barack Obama.

Trump asserted that Judge Boasberg should be impeached, particularly as he objected to the removal of certain individuals from the U.S. “We don’t want vicious, violent, and demented criminals, many of them deranged murderers, in our country,” Trump proclaimed, indicating his view of the judge’s actions as obstructive.

The President highlighted his administration’s authority under the Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan nationals associated with the criminal gang, Tren de Aragua. Judge Boasberg had sought to temporarily halt the removal of individuals before their flights had departed.

Despite the judge’s order, there were reports indicating that deportations proceeded. The administration recently transported 261 illegal immigrants to El Salvador, with 137 deported under the Alien Enemies Act as confirmed by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

On Sunday, President Bukele announced the arrival of 238 members of Tren de Aragua in El Salvador, while also revealing the deportation of 23 MS-13 members, including two ringleaders, sent by the U.S.

Trump reiterated his sentiments in a post shortly after midnight, arguing that the ability to expel criminals from the country was essential for national integrity. He stated, “If a President doesn’t have the right to throw murderers, and other criminals, out of our Country… our Country is in very big trouble, and destined to fail!”

In conclusion, the exchange highlights the contentious debate surrounding judicial actions in the United States, particularly in relation to immigration enforcement. President Bukele’s remarks underscore international perspectives on U.S. governance, while Trump’s rhetoric reveals his frustrations with judicial obstacles affecting immigration policy. The recent deportations further illustrate the ongoing complexities of U.S. immigration procedures and international cooperation.
