Raisina Dialogue Addresses U.S. Trade Policies and Global Issues

The 10th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi will address U.S. trade policies, the global order, and ongoing conflicts, featuring representatives from over 120 countries, including foreign ministers from 20 nations. The event will explore themes like politics and peace, while fostering discussions to strengthen India-New Zealand relations and resuming free trade agreement negotiations.

The Raisina Dialogue, now in its tenth year, is a prominent conference organized by India’s external affairs ministry in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF). This year, it has attracted representatives from over 120 nations, including ministers and former heads of state, and will focus on critical themes such as the effects of U.S. trade and security policies, the evolving global order, and various geopolitical conflicts.

The event is set to witness participation from foreign ministers from approximately 20 countries, including Ukraine, the Maldives, and Sweden. The central theme is “Kālachakra – People, Peace and Planet,” and discussions will revolve around six key pillars: Politics Interrupted, Resolving the Green Trilemma, Digital Planet, Militant Mercantilism, The Tiger’s Tale, and Investing in Peace.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently expressed appreciation for discussions with New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Luxon, emphasizing the objective of strengthening bilateral ties. A meeting is scheduled to review mutual relations, affirming the commitment of both nations to enhance cooperation across various sectors.

Additionally, India and New Zealand have announced the resumption of negotiations for a free trade agreement during a meeting between trade ministers. Prime Minister Luxon highlighted the importance of bolstering economic and security relations in the Indo-Pacific region, aiming to enhance engagement with India’s rapidly growing economy, valued at $1.75 billion for trade in 2023-24.

The Raisina Dialogue serves as a significant platform for addressing crucial global issues, particularly the implications of U.S. policies and international conflicts. With engagement from several nations and a focus on enhancing bilateral relations, particularly between India and New Zealand, the conference is positioned to influence geopolitical and economic discussions moving forward.
