Deadline Approaches for Individual Tax Returns as ETA Chief Advocates Compliance

Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the ETA, has highlighted that there are only 16 days left for individuals to submit their tax returns. The ETA offers extensive support through seminars, assistance programs, and a digital services center to encourage timely filing. Specific guidelines for taxpayers regarding submission processes have also been clarified.

Rasha Abdel Aal, the Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), has issued an important reminder that only 16 days remain before the deadline for individual tax return submissions. The ETA will accept tax returns for individuals until March 31, 2024, and until April 30, 2024, for corporate entities.

To encourage tax compliance, the Ministry of Finance has proactively established several initiatives aimed at assisting taxpayers. Notable among these is a comprehensive assistance program that features daily seminars conducted by qualified instructors, designed to help individuals and accountants navigate the electronic filing process and address common inquiries.

Moreover, support committees are available at various professional syndicates, civil society organizations, chambers of commerce, and business federations, all aimed at simplifying the tax return submission process. The Digital Services Center at the Treasury Headquarters in Lazoghly is also offering technical support, employing advanced digital tools and a specialized team dedicated to assisting electronic filers.

Abdel Aal has urged taxpayers to adhere to the deadlines by utilizing the electronic tax system and taking full advantage of the free technical assistance provided. She also specified that certain taxpayers, including those registered under the First and Second Large Taxpayer Centers and the Large Free Professions Center in Cairo, among others, are required to submit their returns through the new core tax system available on the ETA’s website. Other taxpayers should utilize the designated tax services portal for their submissions.

The Egyptian Tax Authority is intensifying efforts to facilitate voluntary tax compliance as the deadline for individual tax filings approaches. With only a short time remaining, taxpayers are encouraged to utilize the available resources, including seminars and technical assistance, to ensure timely submission of their returns. This proactive initiative aims not only to assist in compliance but also to streamline the filing process through integrated digital solutions.
