Cornerstone Engages Qatar to Enhance U.S. Relations

Cornerstone Government Affairs has entered a $25K monthly contract with Qatar to improve U.S.-Qatar relations. Qatar plays a crucial role in mediating between Israel and Hamas and hosts the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East. The contract, effective March 1, includes notable bipartisan figures working on Qatar’s behalf in D.C.

Cornerstone Government Affairs has established a contract worth $25,000 monthly with Qatar to enhance the diplomatic relationship between the Arab nation and the United States. This partnership is significant as Qatar has been instrumental in mediating discussions between Israel and Hamas concerning hostages and establishing a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, has publicly criticized Israel, accusing it of exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza through actions perceived as starvation. Additionally, Qatar hosts the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East, the Al Udeid Air Base, which serves as the headquarters for the United States Air Force Central Command.

Cornerstone, described as a bipartisan public affairs firm, employs notable individuals such as Todd Webster, a former chief of staff for Senator Chris Coons (D-DE), and Chris Hodgson, who was the legislative affairs director for Vice President Mike Pence, both of whom represent Qatar’s interests in Washington, D.C.

The contract commenced on March 1 and is set to continue throughout the year, with Cornerstone reporting to Hamad Al-Muftah, who serves as the deputy chief of mission at Qatar’s embassy in Washington, D.C.

The collaboration between Cornerstone Government Affairs and Qatar highlights the Arab state’s efforts to strengthen its ties with the United States amidst critical regional issues. Qatar’s role in diplomatic negotiations, along with the presence of significant U.S. military infrastructure in the country, underlines the strategic importance of the relationship. The bipartisan approach of Cornerstone further emphasizes the commitment to fostering dialogue between the two nations.
