Phillip also indicated that female representation within the highest levels of government is noteworthy, with women’s representation in the Cabinet and legislature now at 33 percent. Furthermore, when discussing the advancements needed for gender equality in light of the ageing population, she pointed out various priorities, stating that improving health outcomes for senior men is crucial, as they are less likely to seek medical care despite facing chronic conditions.

She emphasized: “We have to take steps to improve the health outcomes of senior men, who are often least likely to seek out health care, yet suffer from more chronic conditions.”

CSW69 is convening from March 10-21, 2025, and includes participation from over seven heads of state, 108 ministers, and high-level representatives to address pressing issues related to women and gender equality.
