CLG Workshop at Congo Energy & Investment Forum 2025: Addressing Legal Challenges in Energy Investment

The inaugural Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) will occur from March 24-26, 2025, in Brazzaville. A workshop led by CLG will address legal challenges and strategic solutions in Congo’s energy investment sector. This workshop will provide insights into regulatory compliance and investment nuances while Congo prepares to launch its Gas Master Plan and an international licensing round.

The first Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF), scheduled for March 24-26 in Brazzaville, will include a significant workshop by legal firm CLG, formerly known as Centurion Law Group. This workshop aims to address the specific challenges within the Congo energy investment sector, facilitating energy investment and socioeconomic growth. The Republic of Congo has initiated strategic plans targeting resource monetization, project development, and local capacity building.

The workshop, entitled “Mastering Business in Congo: Legal Challenges and Strategic Solutions for Success,” will occur on March 24. It promises to elucidate the legal frameworks relevant to corporate law, taxation, immigration, labor law, and regulatory compliance. Experts from CLG will discuss critical factors influencing investment decisions in the African energy market, providing attendees with insights necessary for navigating these complexities.

The event will showcase how Congo’s investment environment can enhance the utilization of the nation’s natural resources. With CLG’s extensive African market experience, the firm aims to equip businesses with invaluable skills and knowledge for engagement in Congo’s energy sector. The country is anticipated to unveil its Gas Master Plan and new Gas Code at CEIF 2025, which aim to decrease energy imports while increasing electricity access from its current level of 50 percent.

Congo is poised to launch an international oil and gas licensing round during CEIF 2025, seeking investments in both marginal and deepwater blocks. This initiative supports the government’s strategy to augment oil production from 274,000 barrels per day to 500,000 barrels per day by 2027, aligning with national objectives to enhance exploration efforts and counteract production declines.

The workshop titled “Mastering Business in Congo” will also empower attendees to navigate the intricate regulatory environment affecting various energy investments. CLG aims to impart knowledge for designing actionable strategies that mitigate legal risks and protect investments against future uncertainties.

“At CEIF 2025, we recognize that navigating the complex legal and regulatory landscape is crucial for successful investment in Congo’s growing energy sector. This workshop, led by CLG, is a pivotal opportunity for investors and stakeholders to gain valuable insights into the legal frameworks that underpin the energy market. By addressing key challenges and offering strategic solutions, we aim to empower businesses with the knowledge to unlock the full potential of Congo’s energy resources,” states Daoudou Mohammad, Tax and Legal Director at CLG.

CLG specializes in legal and tax advisory services, revered for serving a diverse range of multinational corporations. With extensive experience across multiple sectors and offices in several African countries, the firm offers tailored solutions to address unique client challenges. CLG’s industry expertise—including energy, infrastructure, mining, agriculture, and ESG—enables them to provide holistic guidance to clients navigating Africa’s vibrant business environment.

Registration for the workshop is now open. The CEIF, supported by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and the Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo, will convene international investors and local stakeholders, examining energy and infrastructure opportunities while updating on current gas-to-power projects and national expansions.

The Congo Energy & Investment Forum 2025, featuring a pivotal workshop by CLG, aims to equip investors with knowledge of the legal landscape in Congo’s energy sector. Through discussions on regulatory frameworks and investment strategies, CLG seeks to enhance understanding and empower businesses, promoting the development of Congo’s rich natural resources. With the country launching new initiatives, this forum presents a unique opportunity for investment and collaboration.
