Ericsson has effectively upgraded UNITEL S.A.’s core network utilizing its dual-mode 5G Core, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and Cloud Native Infrastructure solutions. This innovative framework allows for the seamless integration of both 4G and 5G technologies on a single platform, enabling UNITEL to deliver tailored services through network slicing and edge capabilities, ultimately enhancing voice and data services.
The dual-mode 5G Core from Ericsson combines Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and 5G Core based on microservice technology, facilitating a smoother transition from legacy 2G and 3G voice services to 4G and 5G networks. Moreover, this architecture allows UNITEL to offer real-time communication services across diverse access networks, thanks to Ericsson’s IMS.
