The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal praised Egypt’s efforts in mediating the Gaza ceasefire and urged continued diplomatic endeavors for Joshi’s release.
President Al-Sisi responded affirmatively, stating that Egypt would prioritize efforts to secure the release of all hostages, including Joshi, in the second phase of hostage exchanges. Currently, the condition of Joshi remains uncertain; he was abducted while participating in the “Learn and Earn” agricultural study program in Israel.
Joshi’s kidnapping occurred during a raid where Hamas captured 251 individuals, some of whom have since been released. Segueing from this matter, President Al-Sisi commended Nepal for its initiative in hosting the Sagarmatha Sambad, an international climate change dialogue, and expressed his best wishes for the event’s success.
The Sagarmatha Sambad is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18, focusing on “Climate Change, Mountains and the Future of Humanity.” The event aims to attract 160 to 200 foreign delegates, including heads of state and representatives from multilateral organizations. Prime Minister Oli highlighted the necessity for global collaboration in tackling climate issues and welcomed Egypt’s participation to enhance the discussions.
Additionally, the leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations, multilateral cooperation, and the potential for high-level visits between their nations.
