A unified electronic system has been established to connect all entities involved in issuing treatment decisions based on hospital capabilities. This setup facilitates the transfer of cases between various service sectors, ensuring comprehensive access to necessary medical interventions.
Patients requiring surgical treatments under this initiative are encouraged to register on the dedicated website for tracking the End Waiting Lists Initiative. To date, the initiative has successfully completed 2,700,736 surgeries since its inception in July 2018, aiming to eliminate waiting lists for critical procedures.
From July 2023 to February 2025 alone, the ministry registered 220,452 monitored cases following 260,033 calls from patients on waiting lists. The initiative covers a wide range of surgeries, including those related to heart conditions, orthopedics, ophthalmology, oncology, and various transplant operations, ensuring timely health care provision.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry’s official spokesperson, highlighted that this initiative addresses long-standing delays in the Egyptian healthcare system, significantly reducing wait times from 12-18 months down to just 2-3 weeks. The initiative is funded entirely through the state budget and contributions from various organizations, which reinforce the commitment to providing free healthcare services to the public.
