They discussed strengthening bilateral relations and political collaboration, emphasizing economic and cultural ties.
On March 10, a significant meeting occurred between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New Delhi. Following a private discussion, the ministers conducted an expanded meeting involving their respective delegations. Minister Mirzoyan expressed his appreciation for the invitation and warm hospitality extended to him during the gathering.
During his address, Foreign Minister Mirzoyan remarked on the pleasure of exchanging insights on bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues, congratulating Minister Jaishankar on India’s recent victory at the International Cricket Council tournament. He acknowledged that the historic ties between Armenia and India have evolved remarkably in recent years, largely due to Minister Jaishankar’s contributions.
Mirzoyan referenced the active political dialogue between the two nations, bolstered by frequent visits and cooperation on international platforms. He asserted the necessity of sustaining high-level visits to enhance economic, trade, technological, and cultural links, thereby benefiting both nations for generations.
He also emphasized the importance of regular political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and India, alongside the scheduled sessions of the Intergovernmental Commission. The ministers were able to address several urgent bilateral issues and shared regional and global concerns during their discussions.
As a result of their fruitful meeting, the following agreements were signed:
1. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service of India.
2. A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in drug regulation between the Academician Emil Gabrielyan Scientific Center of Drug and Medical Technology Expertise of Armenia and the Central Drug Standards Control Organization of India.
The recent meeting between the Armenian and Indian foreign ministers marks a pivotal step in strengthening bilateral relations. With signed agreements and discussions surrounding various pressing issues, both nations aim for increased collaboration in numerous sectors.
