A source informed the New Straits Times that an additional 23 individuals are expected to be summoned for questioning. Moreover, four individuals who have previously been interviewed are being recalled for further inquiries. Originally, Ismail Sabri was set to provide a second statement to the MACC on March 5; however, he fell ill, and his appointment was postponed to March 7. On that date, he submitted another medical certificate that extended his sick leave until March 12.
Due to these delays, the MACC has decided to interview Ismail Sabri’s physician to evaluate the severity of his health issues and establish the nature of his condition. On March 1, he had been questioned for five hours at MACC headquarters concerning large expenditures on promotional activities during his term from 2021 to 2022. Following this interrogation, he was hospitalized due to high blood pressure after reportedly collapsing at home.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has confirmed that Ismail Sabri is a suspect in this investigation and is required to furnish details regarding the assets he declared in February.
