The Acting Prime Minister, His Excellency Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, announced a reduction of life sentences to 20 years, replacing the prior practice of life imprisonment alongside permanent hard labor.
Moreover, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef has called for the establishment of a specialized committee tasked with reviewing the cases of inmates sentenced to life three months before they complete their 20-year term. He urged correctional institution leaders to expedite the assessment of eligible inmates for potential early release.
