Malaysia Invited to UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Forum 2025 in Berlin

Malaysia has been invited to the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Forum 2025 in Berlin, reinforcing its commitment to peacekeeping missions. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin received the invitation from German Ambassador Dr. Peter Blomeyer, discussing bilateral relations and recent German elections. Additionally, Germany and Turkiye were accepted as observers in the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting experts’ program.

On March 6, it was announced that Malaysia is set to participate in the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Forum 2025, scheduled for May in Berlin. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin emphasized that this invitation reflects Malaysia’s steadfast commitment to UN peacekeeping missions. The German Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr. Peter Blomeyer, formally extended the invitation during a meeting at Wisma Pertahanan.

In a post on his Facebook account, Minister Khaled highlighted the significance of this engagement, pointing out that it allowed for discussions about both nations’ affairs, including Germany’s recent election results. The dialogue also included topics on defense relations and cooperation between Malaysia and Germany.

Furthermore, Minister Khaled noted that during the recent ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) retreat held in Penang, Germany and Turkiye were unanimously accepted as observer countries in the ADMM Experts’ Working Group observer program, reflecting an evolving regional defense collaboration.
