TikTok’s “Safer Together” Initiative Promotes Digital Literacy in Iraq

TikTok, alongside the INSM Foundation for Digital Rights, has initiated the “Safer Together” program in Iraq to promote digital literacy among youth. Targeting 33,250 participants aged 13-18 in 15 provinces, the initiative provides workshops and educational resources in Arabic and Kurdish. TikTok has launched the “Safer Together” initiative in Iraq, in cooperation with the INSM Foundation for Digital Rights, to enhance digital awareness and media literacy among young users. The program is aimed at Iraqi youth aged 13-18, as well as their families and educators, with a goal to educate over 33,250 individuals across 15 provinces. It includes interactive workshops and educational materials in Arabic and Kurdish, catering to local cultural contexts.

Additionally, the initiative seeks to promote student-led research and awareness campaigns through partnerships with universities, thereby encouraging responsible digital engagement. Fatih Kafadar, TikTok’s Head of Government Relations and Public Policy for Turkiye and the Levant, underscored the platform’s commitment to creating a secure digital environment. He stated, “Our goal is to ensure TikTok remains a secure and supportive space for young users.”

Kafadar explained that by enhancing digital awareness, TikTok aims to empower teenagers, parents, and educators with the necessary knowledge to interact responsibly online.
