UAE Donates Maize Grain to Zimbabwe to Strengthen Food Security Efforts

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently made a significant contribution to Zimbabwe’s food security by donating 700 tonnes of maize grain, part of a larger shipment totaling 8,530 tonnes, as reported by the Herald in collaboration with TV BRICS. This initiative supports Zimbabwe’s Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy, which aims to provide essential relief to vulnerable populations.

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, emphasized the alignment of this contribution with the government’s strategic efforts. In addition, the Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare, Edgar Moyo, stated that the maize would be milled into mealie meal prior to distribution, ensuring effective provision to those in need. This food aid will enhance existing national distribution programs and bolster the fight against food insecurity in the region.
