Kazakhstan and Morocco Establish Visa Exemption Agreement Effective March 19

Kazakhstan and Morocco will implement a mutual visa exemption agreement on March 19th, marking a significant step in their diplomatic relations. Kazakhstan has expressed strong support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and governance, particularly regarding its 2007 Autonomy Plan. This partnership is indicative of Kazakhstan’s expanding influence in North Africa and its commitment to multilateral cooperation.

A mutual visa exemption agreement between Morocco and Kazakhstan will come into effect on March 19th. This decision follows similar agreements made between Morocco and Turkey, and Morocco and Azerbaijan as of August 28, 2024. The agreement applies to holders of ordinary passports, as confirmed during a recent meeting in Morocco between Murat Nurtleu, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, and Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad.

During his visit to Rabat, Deputy Prime Minister Nurtleu expressed Kazakhstan’s unwavering support for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, particularly concerning the Autonomy Plan that Morocco presented in 2007. This support was highlighted in a communique issued by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which conveyed appreciation for Kazakhstan’s endorsement.

Kazakhstan’s backing is particularly important given its influence in Central Asia, and it is anticipated that Kazakhstan will strengthen its role as a significant partner for North African countries, in addition to its established relationships with European nations, namely France and various Asian countries. Kazakhstan’s active participation in multilateral politics underscores its emerging status as a key player in international relations, notably in North Africa.

In conclusion, the upcoming visa exemption agreement between Morocco and Kazakhstan demonstrates a growing partnership between the two nations. Furthermore, Kazakhstan’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity underlines its strategic importance in regional politics. As Kazakhstan solidifies its role as a partner to both Europe and North Africa, it positions itself as an essential player in multilateral collaborations and geopolitics.
