He added, “It is impossible to terminate the agreement unilaterally, because it has been ratified by both the president and the parliament, and no one has notified us.” Trifonov described the contract cancellation process as one that would be lengthy and bureaucratic. Furthermore, he stressed the legitimacy of their contract, asserting that any claims of termination were unsupported by legal procedure.
When contacted regarding STG Engineering’s involvement, the construction holding company, JSC Stroytransgaz, distanced itself from direct management responsibilities at the port. The company reiterated, “JSC Stroytransgaz is a construction holding company and neither organisationally nor legally had, or has, anything to do with the company STG Engineering, with which the Tartous port management contract was concluded.”
