National Council President Attends Funeral of Former Namibian Leader Sam Nujoma

Mr. Hamma Salama, President of the National Council, attended the funeral of former Namibian President Sam Nujoma in Windhoek. On March 1, 2025, Mr. Hamma Salama, President of the National Council and a representative of the Polisario Front, attended the funeral of former Namibian President Sam Nujoma in Windhoek. The ceremony, which took place at the Heroes’ Acre, was honored by the presence of various heads of state and delegations from countries friendly to Namibia.

During the proceedings, newly elected President Ms. Nandi Ndaitwah delivered a poignant speech commemorating the legacy of Sam Nujoma, the founder of the SWAPO movement that led Namibia’s fight against apartheid. She emphasized his pivotal role as the founding father of Namibia and underscored the nation’s foreign policy, particularly its support for the Sahrawi people’s quest for independence.
