The Pakistan Navy is enhancing its maritime relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by participating in the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX 25). The Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Yarmouk has arrived in the UAE as part of this effort, as confirmed by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The presence of such a vessel at these exhibitions underscores the significance of bilateral defence ties.
Top officials, including the UAE minister for tolerance and defence ministers from Romania and Yemen, have visited the PNS Yarmouk. ISPR stated, “Participation in the defence exhibition reflects Pakistan’s strong defence ties with the UAE and its active role in global maritime security initiatives.” This exhibition demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to regional maritime security amidst evolving geopolitical challenges.
In recent years, Pakistan has intensified its naval diplomacy with Gulf nations to bolster maritime security and defence collaborations. This engagement aligns with Islamabad’s strategic goals to ensure stability in regional waters and secure vital trade routes. The UAE event showcased naval vessels from eight countries and saw participation from 65 nations.
The UAE exhibition follows Pakistan’s successful hosting of AMAN-25, a multinational exercise involving 60 countries aimed at bolstering maritime security. Moreover, following AMAN-25, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia conducted the Affaa Al Sahil bilateral naval exercise, which recently concluded in Karachi.
While in the UAE, PNS Yarmouk also engaged in joint exercises with the UAE Navy’s ship Al Emarat, further strengthening operational coordination between the two nations’ naval forces.
The participation of the Pakistan Navy in the UAE’s defence exhibitions illustrates a significant step toward solidifying maritime relations between Pakistan and the UAE. This engagement highlights Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its defence collaborations and ensuring security in regional waters. The ongoing naval diplomacy reflects strategic objectives and the importance of joint exercises in fortifying operational capabilities among allied nations.
