Recently, 37-year-old Achol Deng rushed her newborn son to Juba Teaching Hospital due to his critical condition at birth, as he exhibited no heartbeat or signs of life. Urgent intervention was required for both mother and child upon their arrival at the hospital’s neonatal ward.
On February 14, after assessing the newborn in the gynecology department, Dr. Tai diagnosed him with a bacterial infection and RDS. He promptly administered oxygen and medication, which facilitated the infant’s gradual recovery under the dedicated care of Dr. Tai and the watchful eyes of his mother amid a busy ward.
Achol Deng remarked, “This Chinese doctor has been treating my baby for 11 days… Without him, my baby would not be alive” – Xinhua. RDS poses a significant risk for premature babies whose lungs are underdeveloped, often necessitating supplemental oxygen and breathing assistance.

Since then, the baby has shown signs of improvement, thanks to Dr. Tai’s vigilant monitoring of patients’ vital signs and health conditions from Monday to Thursday.
