Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey Embarks on Brazilian Adventure

Odyssey, operated by Villa Vie Residence, has arrived in Brazil, continuing its world cruise. The vessel will visit approximately 15 Brazilian destinations over the next month, including a notable stop in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival. Acquired from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines and recently refurbished, Odyssey offers passengers a unique onboard living experience.

Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey has arrived in Brazil this week as part of its three-and-a-half-year world cruise. After departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, on February 18, 2025, the vessel docked in Santos for a three-day visit starting February 24, 2025. With nearly 250 residents aboard, the Odyssey will visit almost 15 destinations across Brazil over the forthcoming month.

Following its stay in Santos, which ends on February 26, the Odyssey will make subsequent stops at Ilhabela, Paraty, Ilha Grande, Búzios, and Cabo Frio. The itinerary includes a significant highlight: a three-day visit to Rio de Janeiro in conjunction with the city’s Carnival celebrations, as well as exploratory stops in the Amazon region.

Odyssey’s journey will encompass additional Brazilian ports such as Maceió, Fortaleza, and Belém. “We are very excited to visit Brazil, spending nearly one month in the country,” stated Rodrigo Lopes, the Odyssey’s hotel manager, during an interview with Cruise Industry News.

Embarking from Europe in late September, Villa Vie’s inaugural world circumnavigation will span nearly 150 countries and over 425 destinations. “There’s something I always tell my passengers and crew when I’m onboard: the world is a beautiful place,” remarked Lopes. “Every place and every culture have its beauty. It’s a matter of knowing how to look and having an open mind to appreciate the beauty that people hold in their culture.”

The Odyssey was acquired by Villa Vie in late 2023, having previously operated under Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines as the Braemar. Following extensive drydock refurbishments in Northern Ireland, this 23,344-ton vessel commenced service last September, presenting a distinctive concept that enables passengers to reside onboard. New public areas and features, including office spaces available for guests, were among the enhancements made during its refurbishment.

In summary, Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey is making a significant mark in Brazil as it docks at various key destinations during its world cruise. With an emphasis on cultural appreciation and enjoyment, the journey promises engaging experiences for its residents. The vessel, recently refurbished and rebranded, exemplifies a novel approach to ocean travel that prioritizes onboard living and expansive itineraries.
