On Tuesday, in Doha, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani engaged in discussions with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh. Their talks centered around enhancing bilateral cooperation and regional matters, notably the ongoing situations in Gaza and Syria, as stated by the Foreign Ministry, as reported by News.az citing Anadolu.
Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s unwavering support for Libya’s unity and the aspirations of its people for stability and development. He emphasized Qatar’s commitment to the Libyan political process, the relevant resolutions from the UN Security Council, and all peaceful solutions aimed at upholding Libya’s sovereignty.
Ongoing efforts by the UN and local bodies are focused on facilitating elections in Libya, which aim to resolve the ongoing crisis between two rival governments. One is the Government of National Unity led by Dbeibeh, based in Tripoli, recognized by the UN, while the other is headed by Osama Hamad and operates from Benghazi, managing the eastern and southern regions.
